Stockholm premiere of the film Himlens mörkrum

"All people are beautiful when they work" - Jean Hermanson (1938-2012). Today, October 27th, is the Stockholm premiere of the film Himlens mörkrum. The film is directed by Nils Petter Löfstedt and is about Jean Hermanson's artistry. The film includes Verner Åmell, who owns several of Jean Hermansson's artworks. Jean photographs respectful workers throughout Sweden, leaving after his death in 2012 an archive that extends from the 1960s to today. An archive where most of it has been completely hidden for the outside world. The journey in Jean's footsteps leads to many exciting meetings between the present and the past, and becomes a journey through Sweden that is remarkably similar to that of Jean Hermanson once photographed. The film is shown at Zita - Folkets Bio Stockholm

Sweden's premier artwork will appear in New York

Åmells will exhibit the painting Inferno by August Strindberg at TEFAF New York. Strindberg's iconic oil painting is considered by many to be one of Sweden's foremost works of art. Inferno shares the name of Strindberg's autobiographical novel, published in 1897. His stormy marriage and circumspect existence influenced him a lot. Inferno became one of the paintings closest to him. Strindberg kept it in its own possession longer than any other work. Art critics have interpreted the painting as an expression both for his despair and for his experience of mortality as a punishment in a dark space in the hope of a brighter existence in a world after this. TEFAF New York is open from 28 October to 1 November 2017. It is the international premier fair for art and antiques. Here, the finest quality art is displayed to inspire art lovers from around the World.
